Notes / Description

Chips, cards, and table and chairs. Home poker tomuearnnts are usually played by everyone paying the same amount for entry fee, for example $10. If you have 15 entrants -then you'd have a $150 prize pool. Usually the bulk of the money is paid to the last man standing. Second place usu. gets their entry fee back. Sometimes second receives a percentage of the prize money and third gets their entry fee back. It really depends on how many players you have. You start by drawing for positions at the table(s). Some people don't do this- they just let everyone sit whereever.. You can use two decks of cards: Match up in pairs the number of positions you'll have. Lay one card face up at each place- have everyone draw a card and sit where they match the face up card. From there it's pretty simple: First high card or ace is dealer. Then it goes in rotation. If you're playing with two or more tables you need to decide at what point you go to the final table. Usually when each table has three players left. Set your blinds to increase at regular intervals, us. 20 minutes. Have everyone start with the same amount in chips. Setting a timer is very helpful for keeping track of blinds. You can start at 5, 10 increasing to 10, 20- 20,40, etc. You have to do this with the blinds or you could play for hours. Establish the rules at the start of the game, for ex. how you will handle an exposed card, misdeals, mucked cards, etc. It's pretty important to run a fair and consistent game or people won't come back. If you want to do this every week, establish a set day and time, so you don't have to call everyone when you want to play. It's good to have a fairly comprehensive set up, if you're going to do this every week. You might want to invest in some poker tables. If you're buying lots of supplies for this, you can charge everyone $12 and take a $2 rake from each player for hosting the game: $10 + $2- is how you titled your game. This way you're not going broke setting up a nice home game for your friends. Ancillary supplies include, ashtrays, side tables, ice, paper towels, etc. Start a good home game and you will have a crowd. Most important to keep the game fair, establish a starting time and stick to it (blind out late arrivers), and have fun. Nothing beats a good home game. Hope I answered your questions.
